For Nottingham/shire-based artists working with sound / audio & musicians from lower socio-economic backgrounds

This is the second round in a series of three residencies for artists working with sound / audio & musicians from lower socio-economic backgrounds and currently based in Nottingham or Nottinghamshire. The artist or musician selected will be provided with a rent-free studio space at Primary for 3-months, as well as access to artist and professional development support.

Opportunity Overview

The artist or musician selected will be provided with a rent-free studio space within our building from 9 January - 9 April 2023, as well as access to artist and professional development support.

The available studio is:

  • Available between 9 January - 9 April 2023.

  • On the ground floor of our main building.

  • A sound-proofed recording space with small area for desk-based working.

  • Accessible 24/7.

  • Connected to Primary’s Wi-Fi.

  • Office space dimensions are 2.4 x 1.9m, sound-proofed recording space dimensions are 1.45 x 1.9m.

Applicant Information

  • This is an opportunity open to artists working with sound / audio and musicians from lower socio-economic backgrounds. Applicants might identify as working class or under class. No means testing will take place.

  • Applicants must also be based in Nottingham or Nottinghamshire; this is because there is no travel budget available for this opportunity.

  • We are open to alternative means of application / application submission, e.g., in the body of an email, presented as a recorded video or audio description.
