Skillshare: Cyanotypes

  • Primary 33 Seely Road Nottingham, England, NG7 United Kingdom (map)

Location: Primary Playground
Book here. Limited spaces, booking required.

About the workshop: With artist Melanie Wheeler we will work through the entire process of cyanotype printing, exploring the different stages of development and test the technique using a variety of materials, surfaces and objects. You are welcome to bring objects with you that you're interested in using. During the session we will use a chemical process and porous materials to create a variety of reactive surfaces including: fabric, wood, and paper.

Melanie uses cyanotype printing as a meditative process that requires spending time outdoors and as a technique to record time, movement, and environmental effects.

Our regular Skillshares are opportunities to learn, meet people, and discuss the resources and skills we can share in our communities. The focus of this Skillshare has been guided by the interests of Primary’s resident and member community.

Bio: Melanie Wheeler is a transdisciplinary artist, based in Nottingham. Her practice moves across: installation, film, research, social practice and curating. She uses participation and storytelling as tools to explore uncertain territories and create space for different realities to meet and interact. Melanie is interested in encouraging collaboration across

disciplines and communities and in testing the functions of creative practices to find new methods for care and exchange.
