Skillshare: Collective Painting

Join us for our next Skillshare at Primary!

We have set the theme of Intuition for the Skillshares programme between September 2021 - March 2022. The programme will focus on exploring your intuition and being creative with materials and processes. During each Skillshare, the workshop facilitator will demonstrate a creative or practical skill. However, each session will encourage communities to use their pre-existing knowledge and instincts to make something unique.

The programme is curated and produced in collaboration with Raisa Mcclarey Francis.

For this Skillshare, we are joined by artist Ryan Heath.

Influenced by Carmen Argote’s project, Be loved; the workshop is an exploration into your playful, inner child.

In the first half of the session, we will be taking rubbings, drawings and photographs of Primary’s playground. These will then be brought together and developed into a collective painting, using an ‘exquisite corpse’ technique in the second half.

Cadavre exquis (exquisite corpse) is a collaborative drawing approach first used by surrealist artists to create bizarre and intuitive drawings. Consequences is a common childhood game based on exquisite corpse. It focuses on using intuition to complete a collective artwork.

This session will be in person, please book here. Skillshares are free to attend, open to everyone, and materials are provided.
