Primary / LUX Critical Forum

The Primary / LUX Critical Forum is a free monthly discussion, development and support group for artists who work with the moving image in the Nottingham area. The aim of the group is to develop a new mutually supportive environment for the members in dialogue with Primary, LUX and the other LUX-supported Critical Forum groups in the UK and Ireland.

Coming out of the pandemic the group particularly offers an opportunity to build new networks, support each other and consider the cultural landscape we want to build and be part of.

The group will work together with Primary and LUX’s support to explore the potential of the group situation for peer-learning, mutual critical and material support and development. While the group is convened and supported by Primary and LUX it is run by and for its members on a collective basis, and thus demands a degree of collective commitment from group members.

The forum is open to all artists who work with the moving image as part of their practice who are no longer in full-time education and who are willing to commit to the group as a participant for the next 6 months.

There will be a preliminary meeting on Friday 4 June at 6pm with LUX Director Benjamin Cook to discuss how the group works and what it might do over the coming year. If you are interested in joining please register to attend this first meeting to find out more and decide whether it is something you would like to be part of.

This first meeting will take place online via Zoom, and live captioning is available. Please register here to receive the meeting information. We hope that future meetings will take place in person at Primary. Please email nastassja@nastassja-simensky.com if you have any questions or to discuss access requirements.

Please inform us if you have booked a place and are now unable to attend as there are limited numbers for this event.
