When is red red, and when is red… purple or orange or pink or peach or brick or maroon or blush or plum? Join us in this colour- obsessed workshop to explore the incredible versatility of the historic British dye plant ‘madder’ as well as its lesser-known relatives ‘lady’s bedstraw’ and ‘sweet woodruff’. We promise you a minimum of 25 shades and insight into the subtleties of plan t dyeing through use of a range of ‘mordants’ and ‘modifiers’ to prepare fibres and shift the colours in the dye pot. This workshop is suitable for curious beginners and more advanced dyers looking to deepen their knowledge. You will share an inclusive seasonal lunch with your co-workshop participants, and enjoy complimentary sweet treats throughout the day, all made by the award winning Small Food Bakery. You’ll return home with an astonishing range of samples on wool as well as your own 100% merino wool socks dyed in a ‘red’ of your choice! We’ll email you all the technical information to support your plant dyeing journey after the event.
