Join us for En Masse, an eccentric blowout—a mix between the legacies of the Carnivalesque, and Mas Bands such as the Radical Mas Band (1983) (People’s World [formerly People’s War] Carnival Band) that emerged at the Notting Hill Carnival in the UK, which featured masqueraders who wore handcrafted costumes. This cultural practice, rooted in emancipatory and Caribbean traditions, is both ancestral and spiritual.
45 masquerades parade; DJs and open-air live music and poetry will play all night against the backdrop of an expansive garden. There will also be a bar and food.

Fluent in Both
We are a Black-led creative group with a main focus on representing artists who are multilingual and come from diverse cultural backgrounds. We have put on numerous shows over the past 2 years, with each one growing our audience and artist base. We have partnered with the New Art Exchange (NAE) and have hosted our events there for the past year, and will continue to do so this year. For our anniversary this year, we also partnered with Nottingham Refugee Forum, as this is close to our hearts and aligns with our mission statement of giving everyone a voice regardless of the language barrier.
Can’t Stand The Rain: LiVE
As part of En Masse, Primary welcomes the launch of LiVE – a new platform from Can’t Stand The Rain (CSTR), celebrating homegrown talent and spotlighting Black and global majority artists. LiVE invites you to reconnect through sound, community and the outdoors: unplugged, and rooted in real connection.
