The 2-year Community Takeover Programme launched in summer 2024 and opens up Primary’s spaces, offering them to different groups for their activities. In the face of escalating cuts to local communities, this programme shares resources – providing groups with access to space and relevant support for community-led initiatives.
We are working in collaboration with Open Arms Organisation, Refugee Roots, The Toy Library and Heya. Each organisation is working with the communities they serve and support to devise programmes and activities at Primary. Activities have included cycling sessions, cooking, art, gardening, a regular ‘Elder’s Circle’ and play sessions. During the summers we’ve celebrated with a collaborative Family Activity Day.
The Community Takeover Programme has been made possible through the support of the National Lottery Community Fund, the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and ChalleNGe Nottingham’s Child Friendly Creative City initiative.
