Vote for Primary | Building Futures
Primary needs your votes! We’re thrilled to be a finalist in the Education & Arts category of the Building Futures scheme, which is giving away over £1 million to support projects for young people across England, Wales, and Scotland. There are three major prizes in each category, with a top prize of £100,000, which would be a game-changing amount of money for us. The winners are decided by a public vote, so we need your help.
How do I vote?
Voting is open now – click here to go to the website, then scroll down to find Primary. You can vote once per day until midnight on Friday 18 September, so if you really want to boost Primary’s chance of winning, why not set a daily reminder?
What will Primary do with the money?
Primary already does a range of work with young people as part of Making Place. During lockdown, we’ve provided free art packs to over 400 children from Mellers Primary School, and we recently collaborated with the kids from Edna G Olds Academy on the Chimera Plantarium project to design two new public murals and a creative zine. We’d love to expand our programme of events and projects much, much further, and continue to develop Nottingham’s next generation of creative thinkers.
We’re a small charity with a team of five people, all working part-time, so winning one of the prizes would also mean we could expand our team to deliver even more projects with young people. One of the most exciting ways we want to do this is by offering paid placements to people who face barriers to entering careers in the arts and are currently under-represented in arts organisations.
The great news is that getting to the finalist stage means Primary will definitely receive £5000, which will already do a lot to support our work, but this is a huge opportunity for us to do so much more. So please spread the word, share the link to vote, and set an alarm to remind yourself to vote every day!
