Roger Suckling | 'Self Portraits: Looking Back to 1981' at New Art Exchange

In partnership with New Art Exchange, we are pleased to present an expanded digital exhibition of works from the original series of self-portraits, taken in June 1981 outside what was Nottingham Community Arts Centre (NCAC) in Hyson Green. Photographs from the series are accessible for you to view in the slideshow below and a selection will be shared via Primary’s Instagram account (@weareprimary) from 23 - 28 August, coinciding with the second week of Self Portraits: Looking Back to 1981 by Primary resident artist Roger Suckling.

The exhibition at New Art Exchange comprises of self-portraits taken in June 1981 on the site that is now home to NAE, presenting a snapshot of the community living and working in the area 40 years ago. The Instagram takeover supports a call for Hyson Green residents to get in touch if they know any of the faces that feature in the exhibition, or perhaps recognise their younger selves.
