During her residency at Non Space in Aarhus, Primary resident Beth Kettel will be working collaboratively with artist Sean Millington to develop new works and collaborations through their research into sauna and bathing cultures across the world.

Through opening up ideas and research exploring different typologies and traditions of saunas, along with their social, political and cultural impact, they are interested in finding out how this communal site can operate as a public facility, as a collaborative opportunity, as contemporary art and a hybrid of these things.

Over this residency Kettel and Millington will develop ideas and collaborations, testing materials, visiting local artists and saunas and developing a publication, which collates our research into various identities and stylistic features of sauna culture from around the world.

The current month-long research and development residency will be followed but a production residency in 2018.
