Art in Public Space: A critical reimagining
Saturday 10 June 2017, 11:00-13:00
This event follows on from an intensive four-day Lab, which brought together collectives and groups who work creatively in public space – exploring themes of ‘Imagination’, ‘Inheritance’, ‘Borders and Boundaries’. This is a forum to share what emerges from the Lab and an invitation to participate in a critical conversation around the politics of arts practice in public space, as well as the challenges and possibilities of working in this realm.
Art in Public Space is co-organised by Maraa (Bangalore) and Primary (Nottingham, UK).
Participating collectives are 080 (Bangalore), Art in Transit (Bangalore), Desire Machine Collective (Guwhati), Hamdasti (Kolkata), Jaaga (Bangalore), Manalmagudi Theatre Land (Chennai), Project Chaari (New Delhi), and Sadak Chhap (Pune), with Shiv Ahuja, Vivek Chockalingam, Siddhant Shetty, Bhagwati Prasad and Jayasimha Chandrashekar as participant-observers.
This event is part of Here, There and Everywhere, an artistic collaboration between India and the UK, exploring contemporary art practices across these two different contexts. Here, There and Everywhere is a Midlands-London consortium led by New Art Exchange with Delfina Foundation, QUAD, mac Birmingham, and Primary as core UK partners. This programme is supported by funding from Arts Council England and British Council as part of a cultural exchange programme, Reimagine India.
