Melanie Jackson

August 2016

Alice Theobald, Beatriz Olabarrieta, Matt Copson, Melanie Jackson, Andy Holden

Back-to-front-space is a series of short residencies that encourage artists to experiment with different ways of working – either testing out a speculative idea, or developing new collaborations. Each artist will use the spaces at Primary, to produce and present work to an audience, through installations, rehearsals, workshops and conversations.

Exploring different characters and voices, Alice Theobald will trial a new 3D film working with local toddlers and dogs, and Beatriz Olabarrieta will test ideas around how video can take a role within live performance. Melanie Jackson will explore the polymorphic properties of clay and sound as part of a new animated work – Deeper in The Pyramid. Matt Copson will find new ways to prolong the ever-exhausting existence of Reynard The Fox through animation, stage gels and metal. And finally Andy Holden will work with collaborators The Grubby Mitts to devise a spoken word jazz performance based on 300 ceramic cats recently inherited from his late Grandma.
