Testing Ground: Master Class
In February 2016, Zabludowicz Collection in London hosted their annual ‘Testing Ground: Master Class’; a free opportunity for a small group of emerging artists to work closely with leading international artists to discuss and develop their studio practice. Eight artists were selected via nominations from artist led spaces around the UK, this year it included nominations from Primary, out of which Primary studio member Beth Kettel was selected. Joined by Joe Fletcher Orr, Supercollider; Georgie Grace, Eastside Projects; Holly Hendry, Cactus; Simon Hood, Spike Island; Luke Overin, Millington Marriott; Karine Talec, Platform and Laura Yuile, Generator.
The week was made up of an intensive series of tutorials, workshops, reading groups, studio and gallery visits and seminars led by artist Doug Fishbone and guest artists including Adam Chodzko, Andy Holden, Joseph Kosuth, and Linder, as well as Zabludowicz Collection curators. Over the week the emerging artists ran extensive workshops around their practice, attended by the guest artists, who offered their insights and feedback. During the evenings the guest artists presented lectures about their practice which was also open to the public. The week culminated in artist talks by the emerging artists held at Zabludowicz Collection.
