Primary offers a range of artist studios to support the development and production of contemporary visual art in Nottingham. The building houses a variety of studio spaces with different characteristics and ranging in size from 15-90 m2. The cost of studio rental varies according to each space from £50-300 per month, which includes VAT and all services including heating, electricity and Wi-Fi. Spaces can be single occupancy or be shared by two or more artists, or by an artists’ group.
We are pleased to receive applications from artists and individuals engaged in related professions (e.g. curators, writers, researchers etc.). Applicants should have clear reasons for wishing to be based at Primary, and a willingness to make an active contribution to the artistic culture of the organisation.
Your application should consist of the following:
- A completed application form (word document or PDF)
- Visual information: up to 5 images (jpg format, 5MB maximum in total) and/or website links (including video material)
- A full list of images and works submitted, including title, date, dimensions and materials (word document or PDF)
- Current CV (word document or PDF)

All applications will be presented to a Selection Panel consisting of Staff, Primary Board members and artists. Successful applicants will be invited for an informal discussion about studio options within the building. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email, we regret that due to limited capacity we are unable to feedback on unsuccessful applications.
