Nads by Kashif Nadim Chaudry
Lace Market Gallery
6 - 28 November 2014

For Lace Market Gallery, Chaudry presents three big hairy balls. Inspired by the exclusive Faberge egg, these globular sculptures signify objects of perfection, potential, and decadence. They demand attention, invite you to look, and then to look a little closer. Combining luscious, extravagant materials alongside dead matter, Chaudry presents a dialectic relationship between the beautiful and the abject. Both stunning and repellent at the same time, Chaudry’s works play with ideas of the surreal, where nothing appears quite as it should.

‘Coming from a family heritage in tailoring has instilled a sense of craftsmanship and I have come to value the many processes of making, especially repetitive and labour intensive work.  There is something in the stillness of these ways of working which allows me to think about the world and my place in it.’ Kashif Nadim Chaudry, 2014
