Rebecca Scofield’s work within Display 9 sees the staging of material and object in a manner that is intentionally frivolous and teeters on the edge of cliché. Each caricatures intends to raise questions around the notion of strive; it is the effort that one may go through to obtain a particular goal.
‘Is a goal something that we set ourselves as a means of seeing an achievement of success?’
‘I am fascinated both by the ‘thingliness’ of objects, and their social and historical contexts. The representation of metaphor is at the core of the work’.
