For our second PRIMARY IS OPEN event come and explore and enjoy some of the best visual art being made in the UK, right here in Nottingham. PRIMARY is Nottingham’s newest visual arts venue, housed in a Grade II listed former Victorian school building, and now home to more than 30 artists and artists groups whose work covers anything from painting and sculpture to sound, digital and performance work
As in previous years, not only will you be able to meet and visit all our artists studios, we will be running a plethora of public events and activities throughout the weekend. Some highlights include music from Café Con Biro, new performances from ‘Raven Burrows’ and Rebecca Gamble in collaboration with Nadim Chaudry and Genelva Miekle, Mrs Ricks Cupboard showing Louisa Chambers and an installation of wall based work every PRIMARY resident.
To compliment our PRIMARY IS OPEN weekend the Nottingham artist led consortium (PRIMARY, Backlit and One Thoresby Street) that work together to develop sustainability, activity and profile for the contemporary visual arts and artists within the city, will be presenting ‘Seven’. A temporary presentation of ideas, works for sale and installations within the domestic environment of the old Caretakers house at PRIMARY, artists include Rebecca Ounstead and Wayne Burrows.
More details and a full programme will be available soon. So make a date to come along to PRIMARY IS OPEN, as there will be no shortage of things to do, see, buy or eat!
