We are delighted to announce that the Heterotic II residency has been awarded to Jack Harris. The residency, a partnership between Eastside Projects and Primary offers an artist based in the West Midlands the chance to test and develop new work and ideas and develop networks and professional connections across the Midlands. The Heterotic II is funded by Turning Point West Midlands and is the third in a series of residencies designed to give practitioners based in the West Midlands the opportunity to spend time working elsewhere.
During September and October 2013, Jack will be working in the empty spaces of PRIMARY, improvising and recording, alone and in collaboration, exploring the acoustic properties and soundscape of these spaces, as part of a music that seeks to find material interactions and formal shapes analogous to those found in a notion of environment / nature. He will also be exploring new material, media, and working processes available to him as a musician within a contemporary visual arts context, engaging in dialogue with the current use of the building as artist studios and the inhabitants of these spaces.
