PRIMARY is delighted to be working with Nottingham University on a series of talks including London-based artist Emma Hart. Emma has presented solo exhibitions and performances at galleries including Cell Project Space, Stanley Picker Gallery and Modern Art Oxford. She is currently researching for her PhD at Kingston University, and studied for her MA Fine Art at the Slade Scool of Fine Art. In 2011 Hart presented TO DO, a critically acclaimed solo show at Matt’s Gallery, where she is represented. In 2012 her first in the series of Monuments to the Unsaved was exhibited when she was nominated for the Jerwood / Film and Video Umbrella Awards. Hart’s forthcoming projects include The Forest a Wysing Arts Centre residency and a solo exhibition at Camden Arts Centre, London, in 2013.
Through working with sculpture, Emma Hart interferes with the viewing of video, making work that is detailed, complicated and chaotic thus rendering it impossible to entirely take in. Hart can never be sure what the viewer has seen and relinquishing control charges up her video sculptures with an energetic live mode of address.
This will be a great opportunity to hear more about her work.
The talk will run from 17.00 – 18.15
