Writer, performance maker and Primary resident Michael Pinchbeck takes The End on tour to Brussels and Cologne in November. Inspired by the stage direction from The Winter’s Tale, ‘Exit, pursued by a bear’, The End explores endings and exits and asks why we perform and how we will know when to stop. After his performance of The End at studiobühneköln, Michael will lead two days of workshops exploring writing for performance and autobiography.

Michael’s work uses autobiography as a means to illustrate loss and explore absence and presence and aims to challenge the boundaries of text, performance and installation by reliving memories and revisiting real-life events. The End was developed at The Junction (Cambridge), Brighton Dome and Festival, New Art Exchange and Lakeside Arts Centre (Nottingham). The End was financially supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and selected for the British Council’s Edinburgh Showcase 2011.
