Exciting proposals to revitalise Nottingham Castle and surrounding areas are being developed to help the Castle become a world-class tourist destination for the city. The proposals come almost 370 years to the day that King Charles I raised the Royal Standard at Nottingham Castle as a call to arms. Now the Castle Working Group, a business led partnership, is calling upon the public once again to create change at the Castle and for the city.
Initial ideas include:
Ø Placing Robin Hood at the heart of the visitor experience
Ø Making more of the network of caves beneath the castle
Ø Exploring Nottingham’s national importance within social protest and rebellion through the ages
Ø Improving the galleries
Ø Creating a brand new Visitor Centre at the entrance to the site.
You can play a part in re-shaping how visitors could experience the castle in the future. A public consultation will run from 28 August – 22 September and you can find a quick survey at www.mynottinghamcity.gov.uk
